This online edition of the Hutchinson Herald supplements the weekly print edition of the Herald, providing additional photos, features and online links to community resources.

The print edition, published every Thursday, is available by subscription and single-copy sales at the Second Century Publishing office at 308 S. Main Street in Freeman. Single copies are also available at the Total Stop Food Store on Highway 18 in Menno and at Heritage Health Center on Fifth Street in Menno.

Ball battle

Menno High School girls basketball players Christina Herrboldt (32) and Tara Spencer (30) work to secure the ball against the Parker Pheasants Monday night, Feb. 24 in the 2014 District 9B Girls Basketball Tournament at Freeman Academy in Freeman. The Wolves started off the tournament with a 55-35 win over the Pheasants. Abby Herrboldt led the Wolves in that game with 16 points, followed by Kylee Kessler and Kaylee Kessler with 12 points each. Kylee Kessler also added 8 rebounds and Spencer posted 7 rebounds. The Wolves’ luck ran out in the second round, however, when they lost to eventual tournament champion Freeman Public by a score of 38-23. The Freeman Flyers went on to defeat the Scotland Highlanders in the championship game Friday night, Feb. 28 by a score of 51-31 to advance to the Region 5B championship in Yankton, where they will take on Gayville-Volin Thursday, March 6 for a chance to play in the state tournament.
