Fireworks season
Deb Massey works at the fireworks stand in the old Vern Mammenga  service station on Highway 18 in Menno Monday afternoon, June 29. The stand has been open since June 26 and will remain open until Saturday, July 4.  The fireworks stand is sponsored by the Menno Athletic Club. The stand carries a variety of assorted fireworks and the proceeds will go toward the Menno Athletic Club. Fireworks may be shot  in Menno from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Friday, July 3 and from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. the night of Saturday, July 4 according to Menno city ordinances. In addition to the fireworks available for purchase at the stand, there will be a fireworks display at the Menno Baseball Field Saturday, July 4 following the baseball game between Menno and Scotland, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks stand is maintained by Menno Athletic Club volunteers.
