Winds damage trees
Larry Kirschenman moves branches from a tree that fell on his house on High Street Monday afternoon, June 22. The tree was brought down by high winds that blew through Menno early Monday morning. Kirschenman said the Linden tree was approximately 60 feet tall before the storm. While cleanup of the tree required a chainsaw and a tractor, Kirschenman said he didn’t believe the house had been seriously damaged. High winds early Monday morning caused considerable damage around the region, including in the communities of Dolton and Garretson. Local National Weather Service observations indicate Menno was hit with winds of around 70 miles per hour.
