Top finisher
Austin Handel, a senior at Menno High School, heaves the shot during the boys shot put event at the 2015 South Dakota State B Track and Field Meet at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City Friday, May 29. Handel was one of five Menno High School athletes who qualified for and competed at the state track meet last weekend and was the highest finisher for Menno. Handel managed a throw of 50-07.25, which was good enough for him to place second in the event. First place in the event went to Dan Stibral of Scotland High School, who threw the shot 54.02.75. Stibral also took place in the boys discus event, which saw Menno High School senior Caleb Preszler take fourth in the event on a throw of 145-08. Stibral took first place on a throw of 153-05. Also competing for Menno at the state track meet were Jackson Diede in the boys long jump, Ashton Vaith in the girls 100 meter hurdles and Tara Spencer in the girls high jump.
