The Menno Relays, scheduled for Thursday, April 15, will be held in Menno for the first time since 2000. Twelve schools from around the region are expected to participate.

Mehlhaf, Fischer retain seats in city election
Voters in Menno selected Darrell Mehlhaf for mayor and Jerry Fischer for alderman of Ward I in the Menno city election Tuesday, April 13.
Mehlhaf, the incumbent in the mayoral race. received 206 votes to 87 for Roger Simonsen, the challenger and a former mayor for a percentage of 70 percent to 30 percent. Fischer, an incumbent alderman, received 85 votes to challenger Aaron Matthaei's 36, also for a 70 percent to 30 percent margin.
Peggy Thranum, finance officer for the city of Menno, said 293 of 504 registered voters participated in the mayoral election for a turnout of 54.2 percent.
Both Mehlhaf and Fischer will retake their seats at the Menno City Council's regular May meeting.
