Rained out
Standing water was in abundance in and around Menno Monday morning, June 14 after a week of rainy weather dropped nearly six inches of water in Menno since last week. Jim Schnaidt, official National Weather Service observer for Menno, said June 10 and 11 saw 5.25 inches fall in Menno, the highest two-day total in recent memory. Ditches, fields and yards were swamped because of the weather, and several roads were impassible early this week. Problem areas where roads are closed include the bridge near Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the intersection of Highway 44 and the James River and the detour around the Highway 18 bridge construction work west of Olivet. The forecast calls for more rain off and on this week. For a complete weather report for the Menno area, see the front-page table in the June 16 print edition of the Hutchinson Herald.
