Winds whip Menno area
Thunderstorms brought heavy rains and winds gusting to 70 miles per hour to the Menno area Friday evening, June17. The winds brought down many tree branches and leaves all around town, but some other structures suffered damage, as well. Above, the left field light pole at the Menno Baseball Field lies in the outfield after being toppled Friday night. A number of poles were also downed on 431st Ave. south of Menno near the intersection with Maxwell Road. Menno officially received 1.52 inches of rain during the storm, which also brought crop-damaging hail to areas south and west of town. PHOTO BY ERIK KAUFMAN
