Members of the Menno Fire Department douse the wheel of a recreational vehicle in front of the Cenex station on Highway 18 in Menno Friday afternoon, April 24. Scott Simonsen, chief of the department, said the vehicle’s brakes overheated, causing significant smoke. Two trucks from the department were dispatched to the scene, including a grass unit that checked Highway 18 east of Menno in the event the wheel sparked any additional fires in the ditch. No injuries were reported, Simonsen said.
