This online edition of the Hutchinson Herald supplements the weekly print edition of the Herald, providing additional photos, features and online links to community resources.

The print edition, published every Thursday, is available by subscription and single-copy sales at the Second Century Publishing office at 308 S. Main Street in Freeman. Single copies are also available at the Total Stop Food Store on Highway 18 in Menno and at Heritage Health Center on Fifth Street in Menno.

Work for food

Oktoberfest volunteers Deb Mehrer, Scotland, and Peggy Mettler, Menno, were two of dozens of people who helped serve the traditional German meal at the yearly event, held at the Menno City-School Auditorium. Sponsored by the Sodak Stamm chapter of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society, Oktoberfest serves as the lone yearly fundraiser for the organization. Hundreds attended the event in Menno Saturday evening, Oct. 26. Now in its 27th year, Oktoberfest is a celebration of the heritage of the Germans from Russia that settled much of Hutchinson County.
