Here’s your sign
David Fischer, with the South Dakota Department of Transportation shop in Menno, takes notes about a road sign near the corner of Fifth Street and Highway 18 Monday afternoon, April 8. Fischer and fellow DOT employee John Huber could be seen around town Monday doing the department’s annual assessment of road signs in the community. Fischer said the checks focus on sign condition, reflectivity and other indicators of wear.

Hight, Mettler win election for Menno Board of Education seats

The Menno Board of Education will see two new faces after a pair of challengers won two seats on the board Tuesday, April 9.

Kaleb C. Hight and Teresa Mettler took the most votes for the at-large positions in the April 9 election, securing 157 and 132 votes, respectively. They defeated incumbent board members Jill Haberman and Paula Munkvold, who tallied 112 votes and 78 votes, respectively.  Both seats are for three-year terms.

The election drew 250 voters to the polls despite the winter storm.
