Stubborn winter
Winter continues to maintain its icy grip on the Menno area even with the month of March showing on the 2011 calendar. Above, icicles drip down from the edge of the north roof at Salem Reformed Church in Menno Monday morning, March 7. The Menno area enjoyed more normal temperatures over the weekend, with the gauge topping out in the mid-40s Sunday afternoon, March 6. Despite colder than normal temperatures recently, the occassions when the thermometer does climb has helped melt snow from roofs and ice from sidewalks. Even as the weather appears ready to become more springlike, a new round of winter weather appeared on the horizon Monday, with snow fall expected to continue through Tuesday, with accululations forecast to reach around two to three inches of snow. For the latest local weather report, see the table at the bottom of this page.
