Students with Menno Elementary School take part in learning
activities with Park Ranger Chris Wilkinson, with the National Park Service in
Yankton, Monday afternoon, March 17. Wilkinson and fellow park ranger Dugan
Smith were on hand with a mobile educational trailer to talk about the Missouri
River Recreational Area and endangered species in and around the Menno area.
The visit was coordinated by Menno High School senior Kaci Bierle, who chose to
provide educaitonal opportunities about endangered species as part of her
senior project. Wilkinson and Smith gave presentations to third, fourth, fifth
and sixth graders about the recovery of bald eagles and silting issues with on
the Missouri River, among other topics.
