Hanging on
A lone corn stalk sits amongst the stubble of a field cut for silage east of Menno Monday afternoon, Aug. 6. Many fields in southeast South Dakota are suffering from drought conditions brought on my low precipitation and extreme heat. Relief was expected this week, however, with high temperatures dropping into the 80s and 70s by the weekend. For more on the crop conditions in the Menno area, see the Aug. 8 print edition of the Hutchinson Herald.
